"It is alleged that the victim had open wounds on her neck, at the back of her head and on her shoulder. She was also bleeding from her left ear," Captain Pelonomi Makau said.
The 43-year-old woman and her boyfriend were having an argument at her parents' house on Friday evening when he attacked her at about 20:00. She died at the scene.
Police were searching for her 38-year-old boyfriend who allegedly used a piece of half-burnt firewood to assault her, Makau said.
Police called on the community to assist in the man's arrest.
