No background check on Jackson's doctor

Los Angeles - A corporate lawyer for concert giant AEG Live says it did not perform any background check on Michael Jackson's personal physician.

Lawyer Shawn Trell testified on Tuesday that AEG did not supervise or monitor former doctor Conrad Murray's care of Jackson, who died in June 2009 of an overdose of the anesthetic propofol.

Murray was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter for administering the fatal dose to Jackson.

Jackson's mother, Katherine, is suing AEG, saying it failed to properly investigate Murray before agreeing to pay him $150,000 to work as the singer's tour physician.

AEG denies it hired Murray or bears responsibility for Jackson's death.
