Johannesburg - Metro FM has responded to a scathing open letter addressed to DJ Unathi Msengana, in which she is accused by a fan of being rude and disrespectful to her listeners.
"We would like to request that the public at large, our audiences as well as the media allow us as the Station's Management to investigate the strongly worded letter and the contents thereof accordingly.
"Over and above that allow us the time to engage our presenter Unathi Msengana on her views and outlook in the matter at hand, after which we will make our findings as a Station known accordingly. We trust that our request will be viewed favourably," Metro FM said.
The station also promised to look into the concerns of the listener because "it [the letter] is written by a clearly disgruntled listener of the show and we as a station hold the contents of the letter in high esteem".
Metro FM went on to say that "each and every listener of any of our Show's on METRO FM is respected and appreciated by the station, hence our stance".
This statement comes after Namhla, who calls herself "an avid First Avenue listener" wrote a scathing letter to DJ Unathi Msengana in which she states how fed up she is with the way Unathi runs the show, cutting off callers and belittling their opinions.

The letter also caused quite a stir on social media, with the hashtag #Unathigate buzzing on Twitter with many commending Namhla while others stand by Unathi.
Unathi has since responded and told SundayWorld that she had not read the letter yet, and had requested that Metro FM comment on her behalf.
"I have nothing to say. Don't put words in my mouth. If it's about my show, call Metro FM," she said.
