SCHWEIN FEVER ... Bayern's Bastian Schweinsteiger has a hunger for Champions League glory v Borussia
BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER has revealed Bayern Munich are still hurting from last year’s Champions

Chelsea loss will drive us to Wembley joy
But the German midfield star insists the penalty shootout defeat will inspire them to glory against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday.

Schweinsteiger said: “The defeat by Chelsea motivates me very much.

“Personally, losing the final has motivated me more so we can do it this season. I think you can see that with a lot of other players, too.”

Bayern have lost two of the last three finals in UEFA’s elite club competition — the first one against Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan three years ago.

Schweinsteiger and other Bayern stars want to shake off the losers’ tag and, after a stunning season in the Bundesliga, feel they have unfinished business in Europe.

Boss Jupp Heynckes masterminded a league campaign that resulted in a record number of points, goals scored and goal difference — plus a 25-point gap ahead of Dortmund.

Their 7-0 aggregate demolition of Barcelona in the semi-finals sent shockwaves around the football world.

Schweinsteiger, 28, added: “If you compare it to the other two finals all players are available and can play.

“We have a better squad than last season and you can see that. We never had a season like this in the Bundesliga. The way we played in all three competitions so far proves it.”

Dortmund have been a tough nut to crack in previous years.

Over the last three seasons Bayern have only beaten Jurgen Klopp’s men in this year’s German Cup.

They drew twice in the league while Dortmund won all four Bundesliga matches in the previous two seasons and also thrashed them 5-2 in last year’s German Cup final to complete a Double.

Schweinsteiger said: “We know we are seen as the favourites. But Dortmund in the last two years have won the championship and cup and they are a very good team — otherwise they wouldn’t be in the final.

“It will be a tight match and a lot can happen in one game. But we’re focused and will be in tip-top shape when the final kicks off.”

In last year’s Champions League final, Arjen Robben missed a penalty to beat Chelsea in normal time and Didier Drogba slotted the winning penalty in the shootout.

Schweinsteiger added: “We want to win over 90 or 94 minutes and that’s what we are concentrating on. We have a plan and I’m quite optimistic.”
