According to Victor Osimhen of Napoli, if given the "same conditions," he would prefer to play in the Major League Soccer (MLS) rather than the Saudi Pro League.
This summer, Osimhen, 24, reportedly received a generous offer from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, but Napoli apparently turned it down.
"I am happy at Napoli," Osimhen declared during an Emiliano Viviano and former Italy forward Mario Balotelli Twitch interview.
"Many are unaware of the challenges involved in playing in Serie A. Playing in this league is one of the hardest both physically and tactically."
When asked which league he would want to play in, Saudi Pro League or Major League Baseball, Osimhen replied, "If I had the same conditions, I would go to MLS."
Osimhen did give the Saudi Pro League some credit, though.
The Saudi league has drawn some of the biggest stars in sports after Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January. These players include Brazilian striker Neymar Jr. and 2022 Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema.
Nearly $1 billion was spent by Saudi clubs last summer to acquire 94 foreign players from top leagues in Europe.
"They are trying to develop their league, which is good," Osimhen stated.
"There went one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo. Many talented players have been drawn to the team because of Ronaldo's impact. They are attempting to make their league one of the greatest, so in my opinion, that's really great. They are accomplishing something amazing, in my opinion.
Osimhen hasn't decided what to do with his life yet. The Nigerian international's current contract expires in June 2025, but despite months of ongoing negotiations, he has not yet signed a new one.
Despite the club's assertion that Osimhen is having "second thoughts" about staying with the team into 2025, Napoli is still optimistic that he will sign a new contract.
"Victor had second thoughts after a protracted negotiation, culminating in a handshake that confirmed the desire to continue the relationship," a Napoli statement read on October 20.
Osimhen scored 31 goals last season to help Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time since he joined the team in the summer of 2020 after leaving Lille.
